The number of elderly people ‘living in sin’ has doubled in a decade according to the Office of National Statistics. In their 80’s and 90’s these older people now believe the social stigma which previous generations associated with living together and not being married does not apply to them any more. In addition to this the number of divorcees over the age of 85 in England and Wales has also more than doubled in the same period.
