Government’s answer to the rising burden of Social Care appears to be to place the burden fairly and squarely with Local Authorities. They have been allowed to increase Council Tax to meet the cost of providing care in the community for the elderly and infirm.
Under the present system if you go into care, owning assets (including your own home ) of more than £23250, then you have to meet your care fees in full. If you have been paying Council Tax at an increased rate to provide for social care then you will be paying twice over if you need the service.
There is a way to protect your assets against such double taxation by means of a Lifetime Property Protection Trust or failing this then an Asset Protection Trust Will.
You need to take advice and act NOW!
